Our Story
The Dogs Had Treats. Then They Needed Something to Wear.
One afternoon, my daughter came home from a local farmers' market after selling natural farm-sourced dog treats through her business, Farm2Paws.
As we sat on the patio talking about the day, she shared how much customers loved spoiling their dogs and said:
"The dogs have treats. Now they need something to wear."
With three generations in our family, six dogs underfoot, and no shortage of opinions, Northstar Dog Threads was born.
Grandma is our seamstress and resident perfectionist. She brings years of sewing experience and an unwavering commitment to quality.
My sister and I handle the sales, marketing, website, and market booths.
And the younger generation keeps us honest. They are our built-in trend scouts, quick to tell us what is actually in style and whether a new pattern is a definite yes or yikes.
Our six dogs are the real inspiration and the ultimate product testers.
We wanted to create a bandana that looked polished enough for photos but comfortable enough for everyday life.
So we obsessed over the details.
We prewash every fabric so you can toss it in the wash without worrying about shrinkage or surprises.
We designed the shape to have just the right amount of drape, giving it a relaxed, comfortable feel while still looking crisp and put together.
We chose a generously adjustable Velcro closure that is easy to put on, comfortable to wear, and flexible enough to fit just right.
And because one print is never enough, every bandana is fully reversible, giving you two coordinating looks in one.
Each bandana is traced, cut, sewn, pressed, trimmed, and carefully inspected in our Northlake, Texas home studio.
From backyard birthdays and holiday photos to lake days and neighborhood walks, our bandanas are made for the dogs who make life more fun.
If your dog strikes a pose in their Northstar Dog Threads bandana, we would love to see it. Send us a photo along with their name and hometown, and we may feature them in The Pack, our gallery of four-legged customers.
Thank you for supporting our small family business. We are grateful to create something special for the dogs who bring so much joy to our lives.
